Gregory Wilson

Gregory Wilson grew up in Bessemer, Alabama and is a history professor at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham and a Trustee of the Birmingham Historical Society. He has a special interest in Birmingham’s geological, industrial, and archaeological history, particularly the former mining complex in Red Mountain Park, and has amassed oral histories of the area through interviews with people in and around the former mining area; his research has revealed a surprising level of integration among Black and white workers in mining communities.
