Rachelle Zola

Rachelle Zola says that until 2019, she hadn’t considered the depth and trauma of the harm done to African Americans and to our nation by more than 200 years of systemic racist policies and actions. At age 75, she created and began performing her one-woman play, “Late: A Love Story,” a tribute to Black descendants of chattel slavery, and she continues to share the play today. In 2024 she walked 825 miles for racial liberation from Chicago through Selma to her destination, Montgomery, Alabama, sharing stories and her play along the way.
