Sol Kimerling

Sol Kimerling, a native of Birmingham who witnessed segregation and racial strife in Birmingham throughout much of his life, became a local chronicler of the fight for justice for both African Americans and the Jewish community of the city. He recalls the Klan’s attempt to bomb Birmingham’s Temple Beth-el during the 1950s. In 2013, Kimerling partnered with UAB history professor Pamela Sterne King to produce a series of articles on Birmingham’s racial history for Weld newspaper; the series was titled “No More Bull: Blacks, Whites and the Ballot.”
