Jeff Drew

Jefferson Drew is the son of John and Addine Drew, who hosted Dr. King multiple times at their home on Birmingham’s “dynamite hill” (so called because so many of the homes in the African American neighborhood were bombed during the Movement in the 1960s). He recalls his parents’ activism throughout the Movement, as well as the many meetings that Dr. King held at his home with other leaders of the Birmingham campaign. He also recalls the family’s close relationship with Dr. King, whom he called “Uncle Mike.”
