Janice Williams

Janice Williams, a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham, was one of the women of the church who prepared meals for Unitarians from other cities who traveled to Birmingham on their way to the Selma-to-Montgomery march in 1965. She and other UUCB members succeeded in feeding, housing, and arranging transportation for more than 300 marchers. She describes the intense work of members of the small church during this period and the danger of such an operation in highly segregated Birmingham.
