Corey Shum

Corey Shum is technical director of the Immersive Experience (Virtual Reality) Laboratory at UAB, whose team is studying immersive virtual reality as a tool for building empathy to help people see their (often unconscious) biases and practice overcoming them. He is also exploring techniques such as “body swapping,” or experiencing virtually what it is like to live in the body of a person of another race (virtually experiencing the “other”).
