ALAN DIMICK

Alan Dimick is a physician who was director of UAB’s emergency room in the 1960s, oversaw the treatment of those injured in Birmingham after the bombings, beatings, and other violence during the Movement. He also oversaw the treatment of Rev. James Reeb, the Unitarian minister who was fatally beaten during the Selma marches in 1965, as well as the four little girls who were killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in 1963. He also recalls the segregation of all aspects of medical care in the city during the city, from ambulances to hospitals and clinics.
